I have to be very honest with you. If you are aspiring to be self-employed, I need to let you know that it is one of the hardest things you will ever do. Although hard, hard does not have to be impossible. As I embark on celebrating 6 years in business and 5 years self-employed, I can't help but be grateful and reflect on the things I did to sustain being an entrepreneur. Obviously our signature coaching program teaches people the step-by-step process to firing your boss and building a profitable business (read success stories here) but here is the short version.
Know Your Numbers: So many people cite money as what is holding them back from firing their boss, but you would be surprised at how many people never take the time out to know their numbers and see how much money it will actually take them to fire their boss. Success is like a GPS system, if you really want it then you need to know your current location and the destination you are going to. Knowing your numbers is the first part of knowing that destination.
Get Over It: Comfort and greatness don't hang out together, you have to accept that or you can't be an entrepreneur. It sounds cold but it really is that simple. You have to understand that being "safe" has so many more risks than being uncomfortable. The more uncomfortable you are willing to be, the more success you will see.
Get Help Or Get Lost: This is a fact. When I first walked out on the 9-5 life, I was so very lost! Why? Because I had no one holding my hand throughout the process. I am very confident that if I had invested in myself a lot sooner to hire a business coach then I would already be a millionaire. Everything happens for a reason but if I can I would like to save anyone from making the same mistakes I made in my early days. Hiring a coach can be the best decision you'll make if it's the right one.
