ost people will tell you that success is a marathon, not a sprint. While I completely agree with this statement, I do believe that there are some simple steps that you can take to achieve your desired level of success a lot faster. While I am still growing as an entrepreneur, at 27, I've been able to enjoy some fruits of my labor that many never get to enjoy. People want you to believe that to be successful you have to struggle for a very long time, but I believe there is a way around it and I am living proof. Here are three things that I have done to achieve my goals a lot faster:
1) Read: I am an avid reader so I would do it whether my income depended on it or not, but it really saddens me how much people refuse to read. There is a wealth of knowledge in books, only another true reader would understand this. My book collection (I'm a bit of a hoarder) is worth a few thousand dollars, but it has easily generated me over $40,000 in revenue based on what I have learned from the books. If you struggle with reading then I recommend audio books as you drive. Challenge yourself to turn off the radio and listen to one audio book per week. Some of my favorite books are The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, Successful Women Think Differently By Valerie Burton, and The Top 10 Mindset Distinctions Between Millionaires and The Middle Class By Keith Cameron Smith. For more specific business book recommendations, text me at 202.930.1365.
2) Attending Conferences: Last week, I broke down just how lucrative attending conferences has been for me, but attending conferences is also about the relationships you build in the process. When you come to The Pink Slip Retreat on March 17 (because if you really want to fire your boss I expect to see you here *smiles*) we are doing way more than helping you hand in a pink slip, we are introducing you to a variety of experts for you to learn from, and we are connecting you with numerous individuals who are on the same journey as you to help you grow. This is truly priceless. Every time I think about some of my best contacts, it always turns out that I met them initially at some conference I attended. Also, if you struggle to find paying clients you should try going to events where people pay to be there. Because conferences are an investment, you tend to connect with people who are more serious about their business. When you keep going to the freebie event, you attract people looking for the freebie/discount product or service.
3) Hire The Expert: You knew I would say this, I wouldn't be upholding my integrity if I didn't. Coaching goes a very long way because there is a TON of value in paying a person (one who is at a place you are trying to get to) to tell you all of their secrets, resources, and the step-by-step process they took to get where they are. I grin from ear-to-ear when I talk about my clients not only because they are amazing, but because they make me so grateful for all of the mistakes I made early on. Grateful because they have learned from my mistakes so much they have accomplished things is WEEKS that took me YEARS. As a coach, and a person who has a coach I believe that the investment is truly invaluable.
